I will answer a few questions at the bottom of this blog post regarding more information about winter body care routine.

Winter Body Care Routine

Everything starts with knowledge. To follow a winter body care routine you must have the information about your body. Answer yourself for this question:

  1. What is your skin type?
  2. Will you be able to perform this routine for 2-3 times a week?
  3. Do you have these products or have alternates?

If all of them are yes, then please read more to this blog. Otherwise you can perform whatever you follow till this day.

Winter body care routine contains 4 major steps. I will tell you in detail:

  1. Dry brushing
  2. Body Scrub
  3. Shower Gel
  4. Body Butter

1. Dry Brushing

Dry brushing is a new genre of winter body care. It is known that when our skin is dry it is flaky rather than in wet condition. So it is easy to get rid of those dead cells from dry skin. Dry brushing helps to remove all those dead skin cells to help the new cell to grow. Dry brushing also improves blood circulation on our body muscle resulting new cell growth.

Use a dry brush with strong bristles but not tough enough to cut yourself. Be gentle during dry brushing cause aggressive strokes can cut your body. Over brushing is also demotivated as it might inflame the skin.

If you cannot manage a dry brush then loofah is also a safer option but be careful with the brush stroke. A cloth with harsh surface will also do.

2. Body Scrub

Body scrub is  significant step of winter body care to remove any dirt and will soften the hair follicle for smoother shaving experience. A sugar based body scrub ensures the removal of dead skin cells. Applying body scrub also helps to rejuvenate your skin from inside. If you think dry brushing is enough for your body then skip this step. Also remember do not over exfoliate the body or else it will create complications for your skin.

Use natural body scrub that has oil and sugar. Oil will help your skin to be smooth and sugar will do the work of exfoliation. But if you don’t have body scrub, the don’t you worry at all. Because I have the most simplest solution for you: Add 4 tablespoon of white sugar or grounded coffee, 2 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of honey. Mix them well and you are ready with a homemade nourishing body scrub.

After using body scrub, this is the time when you shave your body hair. Body hair becomes soft and makes it easy to remove.

3. Shower Gel

Use a oily shower gel which will not strip off your body’s natural oil, rather will give your body a shine and smoothness. Shower gels are most likely to remove dirt and impurities. But if you think dry brushing and body scrub has done their job then avoid using shower gel. Because this can dry out your skin.

Look for chemical free shower gel with good fragrance with long lasting effects. This might enhance your mood and keep you mindful all day long.

4. Body Butter

This is the moisturizing step. All this washing brushing and stripping took out the oils from your body. And now your body is dry and vulnerable. To lock in the moisture you have to add a body butter to your winter body care routine. Body butter will lock in that moisture and make your skin smooth and silky. You will feel fresh and confident about your body.

Apply moisturizer on damp skin for maximum absorption. Moisturizing right after shower is critical for dry skin type.

Body butter is a must product in winter body care routine whether your skin is dry or oily. Its a step required for everyone. You can use shea butter with oil in it or other ingredients good for moisture locking.

Winter Body Care: Shower Tips

Avoid hot water. Use cold water when you take shower as hot water dries out your skin. That’s why use cold water when you take shower. This will help your body to relax without removing moisture from your skin. If your skin is over dry then you can limit your shower to 2-3 days if not emergency. This may help your skin to retain the moisture.

Using steam to your body is another way to have smooth skin. Humid conditions increases moisture retention. Also cleanses your hair follicle .

With dry body, we get another thing free which is dry lips. The harsh weather makes our lips patchy and hurtful. And if anyone wants to put lipstick over dry lips: I wish them good luck!

You can manage your dry lips with a formula which can be applied just from your kitchen with a simple DIY. Take 1tbs of sugar and honey, mix them and apply it to your lips. Massage it in a circular motion for about 2 minutes and wash it off. Apply your favorite lip moisturizer, mainly petroleum jelly and enjoy having plumpy lips. More DIY lip scrub can be found here.

Precautions you should take to get rid of dry lips:

  1. Always use petroleum jelly or lip balm
  2. Avoid Lipstick for a longer period of time
  3. Apply DIY lip scrub 2-3 times a week. Not more than that
  4. Apply sunscreen to your lips
